0830 – 0930 COURSE INTRODUCTION
Aims and objectives of the course. Introduce instructors / students. Outline of the training. To understand the safe operation and effective use of a fork lift truck in the work place. The course will cover parts of the H.A.S.A.W. Act, M.H.S. Regs, P.U.W.E.R./L.O.L.E.R. regulations and with a guidance of, A.C.O.P.L117. The HSC Accrediting bodies forum 2000.

Theory

0930 – 1030 STABILITY OF A F.L.T. and a PRE-USE INSPECTION
How to carry out a daily inspection. Basic fault finding. FLT safety devices. Causes of lateral/longitudinal tip over.

Theory

1030 – 1215 INTRODUCTION TO and PRE-USE INSPECTION
Introduction to the truck. Instructor will
carry out a pre use check.
Moving the truck in forwards and in reverse. Turning 90 degrees to both sides of the truck

1215 – 1300 LUNCH
1300 – 1440 MANOEUVRING  LESSON 1
Driving an unladen truck round a course using the pivot point to turn the truck in an open and confined area forwards and reverse.

Practical

1440 – 1530 MANOEUVERING LESSON 2
Driving a laden truck around a set course of a figure of eight in an open and confined area forwards and reverse.

Practical

1530 – 1630 MANOEUVERING LESSON 3 INTRO to HYDRAULICS
Driving laden/unladen, forwards and reverse through a chicane. Safe use of hydraulics

Practical

1630 – 1700 COURSE DISPERSAL / COURSE DEBRIEF
Informing the trainees of what was learnt and what is expected of them on day two.
